Licaps capsules are compatible with a wide range of excipients which may improve the solubility and bioavailability of your drug. Licaps capsules have low oxygen permeability, and have dissolution characteristics that may be useful for sustained release applications. A liquid fill not only enables the easier manufacture of small batches when minimal quantities of active are available, it also offers improved content uniformity of low dose compounds. The use of hot melts is also viable with Licaps capsules, as they may be filled at temperatures up to 70° C. And dust-free production enhances the ability to work with potent compounds.

Our CFS 1200TM development-scale liquid capsule filling and sealing machine is specifically designed to allow formulation scientists to better exploit the potential of lipid-based formulations for poorly soluble compounds. This high-precision, cGMP compliant, R&D benchtop machine automatically fills and seals Licaps capsules with liquid or semi-solid formulations and thus helps accelerate the development timeframe to achieve 'Faster Time to First in Man.'TM

Capsugel can also be the extra set of hands required to support your needs during development, technology transfer and market introduction. We can test your formulation to assure compatibility with Licaps capsules, as well as run filling trials in our research center. We also have a partnership in place with Eurand and work closely with Aptuit in Europe, and Aptuit US, who offer contract development and manufacturing services for Licaps capsules.

Licaps capsules are sealed using an innovative technology known as LEMS^® - Liquid Encapsulation Microspray Sealing. This process eliminates the need for banding the capsules, and the easy operating characteristics of the LEMS^® process enables one technician to simultaneously supervise both the filling and sealing operations.

As with all Capsugel products, you can be assured of the highest quality product and technical service. Licaps capsules are manufactured in a GMP facility that meets ISO 9000 certification criteria. Computerized process control stations monitor key manufacturing process parameters, and a certificate of analysis is included in every production batch.
