We are looking for a Senior Director M&A to join our team.
This role plays a critical, strategic role in shaping Lonza’s future business portfolio while maximizing value for Lonza’s stakeholder. As a senior member of the global M&A team, the role is accountable for building out M&A capabilities and leading complex, cross-functional acquisition and divestment projects with visibility to Executive Committee stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
Develops the needed organizational M&A capabilities for Lonza across people, technology, process, and governance dimensions.
Leads acquisitions and divestments by covering all phases of the M&A process, from identification of targets in line with strategy until signing and closing of the deal.
Manages all relevant transaction activities (e.g., valuation, deal structuring, due diligence, contract negotiations with seller/buyer, closing statements).
Directs high-stake negotiations with buyers, sellers, and strategic external partners, ensuring alignment with Lonza’s long-term business priorities.
Provides updates, makes recommendations and obtains buy-in from senior management and EC– be it related to M&A or other matters.
Key requirements:
Master Degree in business administration, finance or natural sciences.
Extensive experience in M&A, preferably with investment banking background paired with deep corporate finance understanding and financial modelling.
CFA certification is a plus.
Wide array of deal exposure ideally paired with pharma life sciences and multi-national experience.
Brings a strong presence and collaborates effectively within teams fostering growth and linking strategic priorities with business cases and negotiation strategy.
Challenges the status quo and looks for opportunities to make improvements to the business and beyond.
Understands and explains the corporate strategy to his/her peers and/or team, and can translate Lonza’s strategic ambitions into an M&A execution roadmap.
Develops inclusive relationships and alliances engaging internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrate a proactive can do attitude with a willingness to tackle challenges and find innovative solutions in a fast paced environment.
